Marmite Marmite Marmite! On autopilot this morning filled up with diesel - not done even a 1/3rd of a mile yet but managed to get it into a local mechanic. Any tips? Supposed to be at VW Festival this evening for my 1st ever show! Fingers crossed.
bottom of tank is 2 pipes just above the starter held with fuel clips or jubilee clips just take one off and drain the tank into lots of tubs.... 60 litres though ouch! maybe best getting a longer piece of fuel hose on the outlet once you pull it off, you'll get splashed though so be prepared. van will be ok once you refill it may smoke for a bit but i wouldn't worry.
Just spoke to the mechanic they are on the case now - found the clipped pipes and draining as we speak. Phew! I nearly cried! I can see me getting very drunk tonight when i get there!
if its in a bay then you would be very very unlucky to do any damage if if you drove with the diesel running through the engine
you'll be reet...... we've all done summat as daft on auto pilot, i once put £25 of unleaded in a diesel so quickly paid and then filled the rest up with diesel and every 20 miles kept putting more diesel in to dilute it, nothing seemed to happen lol. have a good night you won't do it again! actually i'm supprised a diesel nozzle fitted in the van, mines got a narrow apature for unleaded pumps.
You could have taken it to the nearest diddy site and sat and read the paper. Works for us wagon drivers. They remove 10 gallon in seconds, no charge either.
What small amount of diesel that will be left wont do any harm, old school garages use a little diesel in petrol cars to clear them out!!!!! Fill it up again (with petrol ) and if it smokes just smile knowing it will be cleaner on the inside than it was
