    Hi guys
Can anyone enlight me what sort of resistor is in the pic? I know nothing about electronics but think it is the one that failed..if Im not mistaken its 47 ohm but what means 10% anyone?

The 10% is the tolerance i.e. give or take 10% of the nominal value. Somewhere between 43 and 51 ohms

  4. Can't tell from photo how big it is - but replace with same value and also same power rating or it will overheat

  5. where is that resistor, just curious as I don't recognise it

Saw it today in a fuel gauge with a moving coil meter.
The stabiliser drops the voltage to about 5 volts average so that would give an absolute max of 1/2 (5*5 /47) watt, but the whole gauge has a resistance of 100 ohms , so if it is making up half the resistance in series with the meter , it will only dissipate 2.5*2.5/47 or about 0.12 watts. So a quarter watt or half watt resistor will do.

    Thanks
Will have a look for one..btw it’s in a amp meter gauge..

    .....unknown resistor.....

Was that the 3rd Tubeway Army album?

  9. Why not just snip one end, measure it and if it's ok ,solder the lead back together....Looks ok from the pic, usually go brownish from excessive heat if it's been overloaded.
