I found photos of how I made my metal underdash tray.... first a made a frame following the inside landscape of the under dash area ,but if you have a old dash tray as a template then better still ,all the bends are made by using the grinder to mark the bend [like breaking a tile]and a vice to bend it... draw round some metal sheet and cut and then tack weld......simples ,you then can make compartments/ cup holders or anything... very strong and five years later it still has loads of uses..... Makes the cab area nice and tidy... 8)
proper tidy job mate!! And the final pic is brilliant I can see how it works ;D I made mine out of copper water piping for the frame and a ply wood bottom but i think I might have a go at your version!!
Without wishing to sound boring: A METAL under dash tray! :- I have removed one of these from my bus and replaced with a nice flimsy plastic one from JK. I am sure a metal tray will do a very nice job of cleanly slicing your legs off in an accident. Sorry - I did say I would try not to sound boring.
