    Was the Late Bay ever available as standard in the UK with injection,

    No. It was for the US and its strict emissions regulations. This is why not many places in the UK can deal with it when it goes wrong. Some of the other cars in the VW range were available in the UK with it like the type 3 and type 4. From what I remember it didn't go too well on the 411 which is why many ended up having carbs fitted early in their lives in the UK and 412's only being available here with carbs. In all T3 and T4's it does not seem to have sold well to us Brits who opted for the carb models instead.
