Type4 clutch alignment

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by 62 deluxe, Nov 22, 2020.

  1. Hi I am fitting a new clutch to my type 4 engine. Bentley suggests aligning the white dot/balancing Mark 180 degrees from the 5mm countersunk hole. The only holes I can find on my flywheel are these two, so trial fitted it with the balance mark 180 from these. Is this correct?

    cheers

    Hmm.
The clutch will have been independently balanced by the manufacturer so unless you have it balanced along with the flywheel and crank one way will be as good as any other. Without looking, is the Bentley perhaps referring to refitting the original clutch the engine came with?
