I have a 1972 manufactured march '73registerd bay which originally had a Ad coded 1600 engine. It then had a 2 litre CJ coded engine fitted in 2000. All of the heating assembly was never put back, just leaving tail ends of heater cables dangling, presumably 1600 cables. One operates but offside seized & buckled.

The question is if I fit new 2 litre part numbered cables from JK or Heritage will they fit the lever attachment under the dash - in other words are they the same? I know that somewhere on the lever system there is a switch or something that operates the blower fan. Mine certainly will not have that system. A separate wiring & switch will have to be installed.

Has anybody had to do this changeover?
Any advice and pictures of the under dash cable lever assembly would be great. Cheers!

I've changed my engine from 1600 to type4 2.0ltr, just recently put the pods and risers on, the cables connected up fine on the flaps underneath but I've wired a seperate switch up for the snail fan, 76 van.

Flakey are the cables that you connected up, new 2 ltr cables or the original ones when it was a 1600 . cheers.

the cables on the lever end are the same for 1600 or 2000 - its the length that's different
