Type 4 Engine, Alternator Mounting/Adjuster Strap

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by keithandtrudystype2, Jan 8, 2013.

  1. Just split the fan casing as the last bit of my engine spruce up before refitting. The metal strap that has the slot in it to adjust the alternator has previously been repaired (poorly), anyone know where I can get a new one or second hand?

    Cheers

  2. Perhaps try megabug?

  3. its quite common for these to go brittle and crack , there are also a few variations .

I made mine from stainless as i couldn`t find one .

  4. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

They've mostly rotted away at the heat exchanger end. If you can weld or know anyone who can, fix it? Just done one and welded up countless in the past. For me that's easier and quicker and cheaper for customer than looking for a good second hand one.
