Two to make one

  1. Took what I could from commercial highroof(swiss postal bus)that was too far gone and somewhere along the ay decided to go twin slider. Gone in all the usual places, bottom 6 inches all around, jacking points and outriggers, inner and outer sills, lower windscreen and cab steps too. New sliding door bottom tracks in and nearly done making up.the supporting metal for the top track. Few weeks left welding, second sliding door to build and a few repairs on the highroof too. Have a 4 inch narrowed beam, drop spindles and rear drop plates too. Going low!

  3. Same here.

  4. How are the Fresh Kustoms drop plates working?

  5. Haven't got that far yet, probably sometime in the next 2 weeks. I've run boomerang plates on another bus and ended up bending them so hoping these will do the job.

  6. So the highroof sliding door was originally a panelvan door that somebody cut for glass, it didn't really look right so took the window frame from the piece I cut off the bus and made it match! Pretty much finished the rear arches, remade the inner panel with a second outer panel, sliding door lower repair done, last big welding job is the new upper sliding door track and supports and notching the rear frame. Aiming to be running and driving by the end of April! 20210313_164203.jpg 20210313_164328.jpg 20210313_164137.jpg USER_SCOPED_TEMP_DATA_MSGR_PHOTO_FOR_UPLOAD_1612275671789_6762374299290911247.jpeg

  7. Looks like a great project.

if you’re looking to get really low have you considered tubs for the front? Easier to do now rather than add later. @1973daisey just did his.

interested in the fresh kustoms plates - what advantages do you have with these vs regular adjustable plates?

  8. Tubs planned for the front but was going to hold off til I figure out what seats I'm gonna run first. Probably 2 inches but want to figure out mounts too. Cab doors will.probably need a little work too.

  9. Dropped the beam.and stripped it to get the bits I need to transfere over to the narrowed one. Cut 2 nice big holes in the arches too and decided to recycle an old barrel ! Need to figure out where the wheels will sit but should work... 20210413_190845.jpg 20210413_190900.jpg

  10. barrel looks like a good idea, looks neat and should be strong i would have thought

  11. The barrel worked out pretty well, the ribs keep the strength along with the top and bottom lip. I'm going to add some box or angle to bolt the rails to. Seats from an RX-8, sits a little high but not too bad.

  12. Passenger side almost done, not much of the original tubs left. Little bit of cutting and tidy underneath and on to the other side.

  13. Have you checked how much clearance you will have between the steering wheel and your legs with those tubs and seats?

  14. I've mocked things up on the passengers side. It's tight but manageable. The seats sit just on the tubs, rails front and back and they are thinner than stock. Only thing I really lost was headroom but there's no headliner or tin roof for that matter. Gonna finish the other side and cut the doors to fit over the next day or so. Getting there!
