  4. AVTEX -STH2000 .
Superb digital reception on the dozen or so times i`ve used it...
Have a look on the ACDCTV website - about 40 quid but tops

  5. The Avtex i posted above is amplified but works ....
Can`t see anything un-amplified coming close to holding a decent signal - try a coat hanger ...

  6. is the power drain low? its good that its 12v

  7. No No No! One of the best things about camping is NO telly.
We actually sit together as a family and talk and play cards and just be a family unit and not just stare inanely at pointless rubbish.
Thanks for letting me get that off my chest, I didnt mean to hijack the thread:thumbsup:

  8. Power drain is minimal .
I havn`t got leisure battery (yet) but spoke to the guy at ACDCTV who has both tv and aerial plugged into a van battery at weekend shows.
So that`s probably 20 hours over the weekend and still enough kick to fire up the company T5.
I`ve watched a bit of telly, a few films over a wet weekend, lights on , radio/ipod going etc without any problems .
With philntfc btw - the whole point is to get away and enjoy time together, i only pack it when i`m on my own and for once get to watch what i want !!

  9. Thats all very well but what if you miss the soaps and the Jeramy Karl show while your away, you haven't thought this through have you

  10. i have the equipment but not fitted yet.
my head unit can play dvd's and has a tv input for aerial but i have bought a 19'' flat screen and a portable satelite dish and have plans to build a pop up tv cabinet. i may never use it but if all else fails its would be there to use. may keep granddaughter happy watching peppa pig first thing in the morning, i'm sure she'll share it with everyone as she wakes me up with it when she comes to stay..........
each to their own as they say

  11. Thanks Zed of reminding me of happy times.
In the early 1980's I had a 12 volt /12 inch screen B&W TV in the bus.
We would go camping on the Indian Ocean coast of the UAE, (where there was no TV signal) for the weekend.
On the return journey, my little kids (starved of cartoons) would switch it on as we came into range of the Dubai signal, crossing the desert , coming into Sharjah.
It was always heavy traffic from Sharjah on the way into Dubai, and we got lots of attention from the cars around us, when they realised we had TV on the move.
King of the road in a T2!!

  13. I have one of these too - it has a pole mount so managed to find a use for the obligatory VW Show flagpole. ;)

  14. You get it off your chest, unfortunately my Mrs bought small LCD tv for the camper, but when she puts it on I listen to some music or read a book, but I firm believer too in cards and conversation . fair play to you:thumbsup:

  15. you are fortunate to be able to this as a family, there is is just me and my 7 yr old. he gets bored very quickly but loves going in the bus. we are going to big bang in a couple of weeks and the tv is for if it rains heavily and for 6am when he insists on waking up. would much rather have it and not use it than have him bored and upset and not want to go again

i have a small 6 inch magmount dab aerial, it's supprising how good it works, i put it through the flynet zip onto the roof or if it's wet i fasten it inside to the inner roof and it still works.
