Ok, so would you give your bus to someone you'd never seen, met or even spoken to? That happened today, with the excellent outcome of Jayk getting his long lost bus from Cumbria to Bristol. Happy days all round. It's a measure of the attitude, cameraderie, trust and general good feeling that is omni-present on this forum. I've not found anything like it anywhere else on the Internet. Long may it continue.
Yeah, it worked out very well indeed!! I got my bus back! it did dawn on me that i didnt even know your name while i was heading into town to meet you... and i wondered how many others would trust someone they'd only ever spoken to on a forum like that with their most prized possession. Im pretty sure my boss only came out to meet us because he didnt believe it was actually going to happen! And yeah, I agree, this forum is definitely special!! if someone had made me that offer on, say facebook.. i would probably suggested somewhere rather unpleasant they could put their 'genius' idea! Yet everyone Ive had the pleasure of conversing with on here has been wonderful, and i dont really know where i would be without the help Ive received on here to be honest. anyways, once again, a massive thanks to you for bringing my bus home safe!! got it home exactly 4 months after i bought it! now the fun can really start.... build thread coming soooooooon.....
A learning experience for everyone involved. Lost count of the number of times I looked in the mirror and thought "feck me, he's right up my backside" then remembered I was towing.
I've towed everything from a motorbike to a 44 tonne tanker but this was one of the scariest, somebody else's pride and joy on a trailer that I'd never used. The back roads of a snowy Cumbria didn't help but a good day was had by all.
Im glad you got your bus back dude I let paul weeding come and take my landrover defender away then a few months later come and take my bus away It dawned on me later that id only ever spoken to him via the forum and i didnt even have an address for him just a mobile number No problems though and hes doing a great job on my bus There are some brilliant folk on this forum keeping the late bay love alive
