Track rod ends

Are the threads for the nut on track rod ball joints a normal thread?
I replaced the boots at weekend but didn't have new nuts to hand ( tried an m10 but too small)
II now got some m12 which look the right size but once it's on a few threads it doesn't want to go any more, don't want to damage the thread if its the wrong nut.....

 

They have normal nuts, unlike you, but they may be a finer thread if you still have old ball joints

Dont know then, I'll just reuse the old nu then, thought it was better to use a new nyloc.
Presume it should have a washer? Didn't have one before bit think I saw one one on a diagram

 

M12x1.5mm Nyloc, I think
Normal M12 threads have a 1.75mm thread pitch, which is why your standard M12 nut wouldn't fit.

JK (and others) sell them, but you may get them cheaper at a decent hardware or fastener supplier.

As above. Likely to be same diameter but different thread pitch.
