My daughter was 18 in August & we still owe her a present, my eldest daughter is 21 in March so I was thinking of giving them some sort of driving experience. Neither of them need anything & I'd like to give them an experience rather than a material gift. I was thinking of all 6 of us going away for a weekend in a hotel, maybe 8 of us if the boy friends come. A Travel lodge or something not to expensive & then the 2 oldest girls go off driving while we all stay on the side lines. I don't mind if its a 4x4 experience or a race track. They both would enjoy either. My eldest daughter loves Audi R8's so a drive of one of them would be cool but to be honest any car would be fine. I'd like them to learn something & enjoy themselves. There are loads of stuff on Google but I was hoping for a recommendation off someone who has had a go so I know I'll get value for money & won't get ripped off. Any suggestions?
I went on a tank driving course once and drove JCB, go-carts, Landrover 101, Alvis Stalwart and an Abbot self proppelled gun...think it was at Cadwell park, well wherever it was, I got to watch sidecar racing while waiting so all in all top fun...even for girls 8)
I bought a stunt driving experience but we've not done it yet. Looks great. You get to drive a double decker car, do J turns and a few other things.
The Land Rover Experience is absolutely brilliant - and they are happy to take passengers out in the cars too, so you can enjoy second hand!
i know its not a driving experience but the wife got me a gliding experience a few years ago and it was fantastic after i got over the shock of them handing me a parachute and saying put this on in case it goes wrong
Personal recommendation is this: www.carlimits.com He does the experience type days, but they really are money for old rope as you get maybe 3 laps in a 'supercar' on a short circuit but have no time to get into it properly and adjust to what you are driving (if that is even possible for an 18 year old). It would be a thrill, but a short one! What is really worthwhile are the training days with a large amount of 1:1 tuition and plenty of time practicing. I did one at Blyton Park in the Elise and it was excellent, apart from teaching me quite how much there is to learn even though I am an old git. A morning of steering, braking and handling excercises and then as many laps as you want in the afternoon (or until the brakes are cooked). Not the cheapest option, but she really would learn a LOT.
Chris These guys are just up the road from me http://www.driveme.net/ A few friends have been and loved it, plus there's plenty to do in staffordshire while your up here like alton towers etc
