Tracing a vans history

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by D and G, Nov 1, 2011.

  1. Hi all, after some help, having read on here some people put dates their vans left the factory and where the van has gone since, owners/areas etc, we'd like to trace the history of Dougal, any tips where we could go to start, many thanks in advance Dave/Gill

  4. for one of my US vans I found the details of the old couple who owned it previously, on-line.

For the other 'Wyatt' left the for sale sign in the glove box. Both are sending me over some holiday pics so I can put together a photo album for the new owners showing a little bit of its former life in the good old U S of A

Any ideas on Aussie ones? Have no idea at all of my van's life

  6. I guess you can trace back to who has owned it here, who imported it, where it came from etc. The simple fact will be that if you haven't been given any kind of history, paperwork etc then this is because there was nothing to give. I'm doing this myself for the vans i'm importing.

I know that my own van, which was imported from South Africa, was used as an ambulance. That's it. No paperwork, no history

  7. Well we got the paperwork back from the DVLA today. Looks like Dougal was first registered 1st of April 1974 at Purley in Surrey. He then went off to Stratford upon avon and spent a few years in the birmingham area before going to Bristol, Stroud, and Bath before coming to us. He was white when he was first born but at some point has had a blue bottom half added, but there really is a lot of paperwork to go through, we are the 11th owners.
