Been wondering about planning a trip over to watch some of the TDF and get a bit of cycling in. Will be the first week in July. Basically, ferry over on a Saturday night from Portsmout to le Havre, 100 odd mile journey down to somewhere near Pontorson, set up a camp and then spend 3 days riding to a location to watch the 3 stages in that area. No more than about 100km round trip for each day. Then a couple of days driving back up for the return ferry. Obviously cycling is optional, could take vans but just wondered if anyone else was interested? Cheers Stu

Yep, I have to learn to trust Barney again now he is back on the road so keeping it simple. Would love to do down to the alps. Initial thought was to go for the 3 Giro stages around the same area but convinced to pick an easier option.
I took my rents t4 through france nearly 2 years ago and watched the end of a stage at chatteroux, wasnt sure what to expect as hadn't watched it live before, but was actually one of the best days of the whole road trip! Great atmos and the caravan/sponsors floats beforehand swamped us in free stuff!!
