That is really really cool.

I rode the first two stages of 2014 and went to watch them. One day I will get to France to see a stage or two.

What would happen if someone joined in on a stage, and won it, I wonder…

@lost-en-france has managed to complete lots of horrible hill stages on his mountain bike. He could probably do well in the stage past his house! :)

Imagine the Men's 100 meters final in the Olympics final - where Usain Bolt was still the top man.

It would be like that, had some random climbed over the railing, striped to his skiddies and out run them all. If there was another 130 of them.

We went to see the Tour when it came to the UK a few years ago. We decided that the long steep climb up to Holme Moss would be good, as they would be going slowly and we'd get a good look.

We had to park the motorbike a couple of miles away and walk, then waited a couple of hours, with hundreds of others, in anticipation as first came a wave of cars and vans, dishing out promotional knick nacks. Eventually there were Police outriders, then TV helicopters then the riders, who swept by in moments, going faster uphill than I'd go on the level.

I remember cycling up Buttertubs getting ready for an epic downhill when just nearing the top we got hit by horizontal hail and then a river running down the descent. Would have loved disc brakes for that descent.

Holme Moss looked tamer on paper but it was tougher, probably because we had already done a shed load of miles already. We came down the other side topping out just over 50mph!! I think the pros were near topping 70+ they go about 15mph up their toughest climbs.

  8. Very envious of you .Haven't really caught up with any tour news lately ! Is Cavendish riding ?

That's his plan. He starts his season off in a day or two in The Tour of Colombia.

  10. Excellent . After reading a few article's he definitely sounds like a love him or hate him character but i would like to see him break the record with the old guy teaching the youngsters a lesson .

Now you will have to get involved in whatever decoration making they choose in your village..e.g. knitted cyclists on old bikes mounted around the place ...

Or big models of syringes and 2 litre containers labelled up with banned chemicals...

  12. They usually paint the old bikes yellow..

    It's a bit cheesy
