Torque wrench

  1. Ive done a search on this but cant find what im looking for. I need a torque wrench so looking for any recommendations please. I dont really want to spend loads so is there any reason not to buy one for £30 rather than an expensive one? It needs to have a range a range between 25 - 100 Nm for the job im doing, but would that range also cover most jobs im likely to encounter on my bus? Also, when it says about 1/2, 3/4 etc inch drive, is that the size of the little square doodah on the ratchet head that fits into the socket piece? Whats the most appropriate size to get?
    Thank you wise people.

  2. If you're doing engine work, you'll need one that goes up to about 45 lbs/ft. The Halfords one or one from Norbar would be good. 3/8" drive is fine. Don't use a big one on your engine - they're not accurate enough.

For other stuff, one that goes up to 100 lb/ft is fine. These are 1/2" drive.

  3. Agree with Snotty. Buy the most expensive one you can afford from a reliable brand, as the cheap ones go out of calibration before you can say knife. Have a look at the Britool or Facom ones at Machine Mart. Good quality at reasonable prices
