Tool for CV Joint bolts?

  1. The first one you show is correct. It's an M8 slimed drive. Get a good one though, cheap ones are made of soft metal and quickly wear out. A good one will last forever. The bolts should be torqued correctly to 25 lb.ft. They should also have conical washers fitted but these should be replaced once undone, so to be correct you need new ones. Correctly fitted and torqued bolts should not come loose.

  2. Slimed? Where did that come from? Splined, of course

  3. JK do one for £8.95 and they sell the Belleville washers...change them and torque up as above and you won't have any problem. No need for locktite or over torqueing which destroys the effect of the washers.:)

  4. ^ what fritt said. Be aware someone may also have used allen head bolts in the past. Degrease everything, make sure the spreader plates are there, change the washers and torque up to about 28 lb/ft. They won't come off.
