Took ICT34s apart...

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by SkutterBob, Mar 20, 2015.

  1. I did check the float and replaced the needle and its holder. The carbs seemed pretty good inside. Will check again when they come back.

  2. I can email you the ICT tech book pages if you pm me your email address. It is only a short section of the book, so its not really worth buying the tech book just for the ICT section.

  3. Messaged you

  4. What did you set the float height to?

  5. 6mm - actually, I checked it and seemed fine on both.

  6. Was that from the top of the float to the gasket and the float valve needle not being pressed at all?

  7. It was about a year the last time I checked. I followed some instructions, I remember being careful not to push in the needle. I don't think it is leaking from the top gasket, but will be ordering replacements again anyway.

  8. Well, the news came back from the engineers and the carb bushes are worn, probably leaking air in. They said it would cost too much to fabricate new ones. So off to Eurocarb for me.

Eurocarb said they would re-jet to suit my engine, but not change the emulsion tubes as they said the F78s will be fine. I had to order F6s separately.

  9. Don't believe eurocarb, I don't know why they persist in saying its jetted correctly?! Keep your jets but try F6. It really needs a rolling road.

  10. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

I expect they may work ok with a lightweight beetle.

  11. Arrived...

Came with 140 mains, 55 idle. You can see the F6s I had to buy extra.

They could have thrown in some manifold gaskets.

  12. Cool, it will be running much better. did you get some of the fibre base gaskets? much better than the rubbish metal ones.

  13. Hope so!

  14. That should get you going, mine runs well with F6s, 145 mains and 55 idles. Still worth getting tuned up properly though once it's all running, I hope you enjoy it

  15. If you see the first post, I will have the jets from my old carb too. What combination do you think I should start with? My engine is 1641.

  16. I think it's quite engine dependent, so no easy answer, I was recommended 135 mains but ran really badly so 145 made a big difference so trial and error really. Try the bigger mains!

  17. I had a lot of problems with my ICT's. Mr Weeding sorted them out with 140 mains, 60 idle, 170 air and F6 emulsion.

  18. find it hard to believe that it'd cost too much much to ream out the casting and turn some phos bronze bushes to suit...any model engineer could do this

  19. I know, some people on samba said they were only charged £30, but I am running out of time to find another engineers. I maybe will try again and sell them later.

  20. Mine is a 1641 with engle 110. This is what I ended up with after the rolling road.

    55 idle jets
    F6 emulsion tubes
    135 mains
    160 airs
    55 pump jets
