I recently e-mailed "too good to be true" adverts on Ebay and got replies. One said they lived in Dundee and wanted a quick sale so if I paid the money to Ebay the would release the van then collect from Ebay - yeah, right! The second one was in secure barracks in Dundee (see a pattern?) and would be unable to met me and payment was the same as the first van. Both were taken off Ebay by the next day. I hope no one was stung but always be vigilant.

 

yep, the air force - going to afgan blah blah bellyache one is getting common now...... basic rule. less than 5 grand and not a crapbox? probably a scam.
e-bay has ruined the chances of picking up cheap anythings now, years ago you heard "my mate has an old one in his garden he wants to sell" and if you was the local car nut you got first dibs, now e-bay people look on there and think every bus is worth 10 grand even if there are potatoes growing through the floor..... so to see a shiny one for anything less than 10k makes people get greedy.

 

got a reply from Ann at VWDown Under - they are aware that their photos are being used - apparently its on autotrader's website as well. they have emailed ebay.
