  3. On a 'useful' level, (I'll let you work out the level), we have discussed this exact point with what will be a 3 year old, camping and Glasto next year. We have planned to use the room in the awning as a makeshift toilet room in the night.

It means you won't have any smells or close quarters tinkling, just open the sliding door, 3 steps and you're in your own 'home from home'.

  4. haha tena-pie and tiny-pee... love it!!

  7. Well first of all I must say it's quite nervy of the old lady to ask you to buy a portable toilet that everybody can use except you. Do tell, where can I get a wife and kids who's sh*t doesn't stink? Moving on~
Perhaps somebody can tell me, in what universe is it easier to poop in a plastic box that must then be emptied in a toilet, then cleaned thoroughly? Ah. Of course. The one in which the husband, who isn't allowed to use said loo, must also empty it and clean it for everybody else?
This is a tiny little van. Even with just two people there is no room for such British propriety nonsense anyway. If you're going to start camping it's high time you learn to act like a camper and hike to the crapper across the cold dewy field like everybody else. That which doesn't kill you will only make you stronger. ^-^
But seriously, here in the states, Coleman sells a small booth of a tent for bathing and toiletry for just $30. It pops up quite easily. Especially when you make your wife and kids set it up, as it seems to be their private little poo-poo party to which you are not invited anyway. It's also nice for changing clothes in private and it folds up small enough to fit under the front seat. You can also pick up a cheap folding toilet seat that uses disposable bags, so there are no messy clean-ups.

  8. I'll be getting a pottie-loo thing, for the wife (night time use only because she's up a few times and doesn't like walking over wet cold grass to share bogs with peasants). It'll never be used in the bus though. It'll go in the covered area between the bus and the awning. Hopefully though, I'll be getting an Eriba caravan next year - not the baby Puck, but the slightly longer one, the one with of those proper fitted cassette bogs.

  9. When camping I use the loos, when caught short for number ones I have a handy Tupperware type sealable plastic container....got caught short in Asdas car park the other day, no time to get to a bog so out comes the Tupperware...and all the peeps walking past the van didn't have a clue that I was on my knees having a wee ;D...priceless.

  15. Anyway back to the subject at hand.

We have a small Thetford jobbie that normally sits inbetween the awning and the van for use late at night and if the on-site khazi is deemed unsuitable for human consumption.
It is supposed to be for no.1's only, I never use it but do get the job of emptying it and sometimes discover that the no.1's rule is not being strictly enforced, but when you have 2 kids its not so easy to stop yourself mid flow, so I am told.

  16. How vivid. ⬆

Drill 15mm hole in floor, bit of hosepipe and a funnel, job done! For a #2 you could step into handles of an Asda carrier!
