If you think about the person you are today, you would probably agree that a lot of this has come from your parents. No matter whether this is your blood parents, or someone who you consider to be your parent because of the role they have played in your life, it doesn’t matter. This is the person who you believe has been there for you throughout your life, watched over you, and helped you to become the person you are today. This is what Parents’ Day is all about, and it presents us with the perfect opportunity to recognise everything that parents around the world do.

Throughout our lives, our parents are there to guide us and lead us to be independent thinkers and to develop our own personalities. They are there to help us achieve our goals. With the world changing all of the time, this is no easy task. Most parents have endless worry and a lot of sleepless nights. This is why it is important to have a day so that can honour parents who do everything they can to protect and raise their children.

I'm going to collect mine in a few weeks time and bring them up here to stay for a break. I don't think that my Mum has coped very well mentally with being cooped up. My Dad has spent an awful lot of time devising the 'best' system for online food shopping - it involves numerous lists and more than one supermarket. He did explain it to me but I lost him after the first few minutes and had to make encouraging noises for the remainder. He still had an orange juice crisis yesterday apparently

One of my dads earlier careers was that of a 70’s scrap merchant.
    I have a vw from the 70’s.

    I blame him.
Good job he put me on a motor mechanics YTS course, when I left school in 84...:D;)

I shall ring my pa today as yesterday I got a call from the care line company saying he had fallen again :(.

Fortunately my bro was en route to visit so went straight to the hospital and apart from bruises dad ok to go home :)

Most annoying thing is that they made my bro wait in the car park so dad was on his own about 8 hrs and as he can’t remember, or articulate well, when he’s out of his normal place/routine they think he’s worse than he is. If they let one of us in with him we know better what he’s trying to say and he relaxes and gets back to normal. Also, when he says things like he’s confused sometimes he is, other times it means he can’t remember the word so you have to ask more questions/gives examples until he remembers or you say the word he was looking for!

  7. It is so cruel that sick people aren't allowed at least 1 person in with them

  8. You are right - lots of worry as parents - and it never ends - our kids are 43 and 41 and we still worry that they are OK in their lives - even though they have families of their own now.

flipping annoying too as although dad not too bad physically he has Alzheimer’s so doesn’t understand all the time what is happening and needs someone with him who can explain things for him, and for the medical staff. It would save the medics time, and us and dad the stress of being at the hospital.

  10. I heard that a few places are naming some next of kin as carers so they can be there for their sick parents etc.

  11. They are worrying about you now..:D

  12. Yeah I guess they are too - although they have enough to think about without us.
