'Men Make Dinner day was established to help those men that have perhaps never cooked outside of a barbecue, and are a little intimidated by the kitchen. Sandy Sharkey was responsible for the creation of this day, determined that men could be amazing in the kitchen, and help to produce some truly tremendous meals.

They’d met far too many men who were not just inexperienced in the kitchen, but were in fact entirely afraid of the prospect of approaching a kitchen with the intent of preparing a meal. Men Make Dinner day is your opportunity to get out from in front of the barbecue, and truly amaze your family with a great meal… eventually.'

I have no idea who Sandy Sharkey is but he/she has a point. I do some of the cooking in our house, most of the bread-making, but I still act as assistant chef most of the time.

I doubt my efforts will be up to much compared to my wife’s superb skills, but she does appreciate it when I try x

  3. You've got this wrong today is my wife turn in the kitchen. Yesterday I knocked up a quick roast dinner followed by apple & blackberry crumble. I reckon I do at least half of all the cooking here.

I make tea every night, so I might turn this around and call it “mrs makes tea day” . Or “takeaway night” to give it it’s correct name.. :D

  9. Prior to lockdown I did most of the cooking as Lady L rarely got in before 7.30 ...
Now with the advent of working from home she's dug out the old cookbooks and rediscovered cooking so win-win , downside being we just need to find the slimming cookbooks ...

  11. I enjoy cooking and making meals, what annoys me is my other half keeps poking her nose in.
Not that my meals are unappetising she enjoys them.
But I don't need a Sous chef. Especially when making our evening "dinner"

  12. Since living on my own, I have learned to cook meals for myself, its fun and not difficult. You chaps should give it a go.

  13. I think from the comments above you can deduce that's what most of us blokes are already doing!

I cooked every day for 4 months while I was furloughed and my wife wasn't. Usually we split it 50:50

I cook very well, but my mrs’s food is excellent. She is Italian.

    Aaalllll byyyyyyy myseeeelllffffff :)

I ‘cook’ a lot. sometimes it goes Ping.
During first lockdown I got into Mindful Chef recipes as they were the only Pre-prepared ingredients companies that supply food for one person. The problem being the portions were huge and I kept eating the same thing for lunch the next day although not tasting quite as good. I cancelled that and have been quite bad recently. Was talking to my sister last night as we were out in a restaurant (last chance before lockdown) and that conversation and this thread has made me order some for next week!

Also, as those of you have seen me in my van may know, I do like a stirfry. In fact everything I cook in the van is usually done in the wok, including my breakfast the next day, without having cleaned it out. It makes the bacon and eggs/omelette taste blooming marvellous

I love cooking and do most days.

Funny how lots of blokes don't or 'can' t' cook when nearly all top chefs are men.

I was impressed and put to shame when I stayed with my then 20 yr old nephew a couple of days.

I said we could have curry for tea, thinking my way, takeaway/pre prepared or a sauce. He only cooked it all from scratch using spices and things!! Very nice it was too
