Letter Writing Day is all about paying tribute to the age-old form of communication; letter writing. Letter Writing Day presents you with a great opportunity to reconnect with people that you may not have spoken to for quite some time now. It also helps you to think before you write. With modern connection forms, we don’t tend to reflect and think before we communicate with someone. However, a letter gives you the perfect opportunity to do this. I can't remember the last time I wrote or received a hand written letter. How do people cope without emojis
I do occasionally write a letter using a fountain pen. I wrote to my brother during his cancer treatment to say how I loved him and giving him as much support as I could. Recently I recieved a letter from a Nun, sister Bernadette in response to a letter I had written searching info on my family tree. She had the most beautiful handwriting I had seen with a real pen. Makes me ashamed of my scrawl
A lecturer once said to me ‘ You should go into medicine Malcolm’ I took it as a compliment until he said the reason -apparently my writing is illegible like a a Doctors’s prescription!
I still occasionally write a letter inside a card. Does that count? I’ve still got letters somewhere from old friends - and partners! - that really make me laugh. I love receiving letters. Somehow it seems to read more how a person speaks than emails, but I don’t know why? also you get something through the post and can recognise friends and family handwriting
