Find a sunny, public open place, and join in with Kite Flying Day! Take a picnic to the park and get competitive, seeing who can fly the highest, the fastest, and the most intricately! Sunny may be a challenge - the wind should be okay Any sports kite fans out there ? I have a bag full of kites - including a 2m foil - which haven't seen the light of day for some time
When I was younger I played all summer with a stunt kite ,I kept buying more string I wanted to catch a airplane...
I lost a stunt kite up a tree some years ago - claimed on my home insurance. I had this very strange conversation with the insurance help line... I've lost my kite Where did you lose it? Up a tree in Lyme Park So you know where it is then? So you haven't lost it at all. I have lost it in the sense that I no longer have it in my possession. I'll go and ask my supervisor.... It was a very expensive kite by the way
This is eerily prophetic Bern, we're looking after our granddaughter today and she's bought her kite round for when we walk the dog.
I have stacks of kites but it's a long time since I flew one. Too busy today to stand in the cold wind.
So it is actually Kite Flying Day then....Sorry @bernjb56 , I thought you were just posting up it to gauge the response
Best kite I ever had was a home made one, out of a black bin liner and two sticks. Saw it on Blue Peter or Magpie, or something like that. It was brilliant, although a bit dull looking
I have been building a large box kite for some time, unfortunately everytime it nears completion something happens to it. Last time a mate thought it was a box in the garage & sat on it. Back to square one.
I've never had a good kite, I may look online after a few beers tonight, I find that's when the best purchases are made.
I once sang lets go fly a kite to my hearts content on stage at Butlins once Well they were asking kids to come up and sing , others were winning holidays n stuff . Guess what i won????? yes a Bludddeee Kite . hence i have just burst into song , Lets go fly a kite up to the highest height , lets go fly a kite and send it soorrring ,up thru the atmosphere , up where the air is clear ,oh lets go fly a kite!!!! Funny how things stick in your mind for years init , n yet why am i saying this
Much as I'd love to fly a kite today, it's a) too cold, b) too wet and c) I'd probably land about 20 miles away given the strength of the wind today. We do however have an excellent kite!
Just helped someone put up a "pop-up" gazebo (for a party). It's now a kite! At least we picked the right day.
