International Country Music Day is a day that has been designed so that we can pay tribute to some of the world’s best country artists. Whether you are a huge fan of the genre or not, you are encouraged to listen to some country music on this date. You could even break out the fiddle or banjo and get involved yourself. Country music, which can sometimes be referred to as country and western, is a form of music that has been popular for many years now. Its roots come from old-time music and blues, as well as a number of different types of American folk music. This includes Tejano, Texas country, New Mexico country, Red Dirt country, Cajun, and Appalachian. Country music tends to consist of both dance tunes and ballads, which have harmonies, folk lyrics, and simple forms.
Blues is as close as I like to get. Two prisoners on death row were asked if they had a last wish. The first said - Can you play "Achy Breaky Heart" by Billy Ray Cyrus before I go. The second replied - can you hang me before you play it.
To me country music is like the third order of Carmelite, I know it exists, but have no interest in it whatsoever even though they’re both influential and interesting to some.
Those who know me well know I don’t need much excuse for a bit of Dolly Parton..... or any other country music for that matter Just about sums me up.....
I enjoy country music, loved it when in Canada for a couple of years. Saw Charlie Pride in Concert. Enjoy the the old country stars, Cash, Jennings, Box Car Willie and of course that blonde bombshell Dolly. Country music will always have a place on my playlist
