I had a colleague who used to say 'we must avoid duplicity of effort' I let him use this catchphrase for quite a while before I suggested that 'duplication of effort' was more accurate in Philips for doing things twice unnecessarily - the organization was too stupid to have the kind of evil intent that he was suggesting. And the record in Philips for doing things twice was they found 22 versions of the same silicon chip building block when they collected all the silicon chip designs together. And they had four different GPS receiver designs while I was working on them. Or was that five because we made an unofficial one too...
Mallaprops are fantastic. Ive just been to a school presentation and the deputy head used the word violation instead of volition. It was highly innapropriate in the context of his speech. Lol
I'm not a huge fan of management consultants (I'm a manager / director) and the last one (at the company I left (strangely enough)) used to say "interpretate" a lot, among other Marmitee. You could play the bingo game in any meeting he was involved in.
We are not here to soloutionise, others can imagineer our needs. That's a direct quote from a meeting today. It's only Wednesday.
As long as we all sing from the same hymn sheet, we be able to progress forwards. Heard this at a meeting this afternoon.
