You could read it that way, that’s not how I read it. I think they were one, if not the only company, offering “tourist “ trips to the wreck, so warning them about their subs seems to me more like genuine concern for the life of the passengers rather than trying to undermine the competition, because, on the face of it, there was no competition.
My poor choice of words. They must need funding. Do you think this will have a negative impact on that?
Possibly not, because they (ie the ones who called Stockton Rush out) will be seen as less reckless, less likely to take risks. Who knows though.
That's a bit like the time a carbon fibre wrapped pressure vessel went boom on a SpaceX Falcon 9. I seem to remember it was liquid oxygen turning to ice inside the laminate and breaking it up..
"Oh dear, oh DEAR oh dear!" (Those familiar with Messrs Chuckle will know how to read that) I'm going to have to watch my top speed in the i3 now ... It's all carbon fibre blended plastic and aluminium. Don't want that delaminating on the M4. The Stockton Rush M O reminds me of an old advert: "Your Sub Your way" (It's never too soon ... It was less than 24hrs after the famous Parisien underpass crash that I heard "what does DIANA stand for? ... Died in a nasty accident" )
Do you remember the exploding space shuttle? NASA Need Another Seven Astronauts. I'm sure I was at school then, how long ago was it? Seems we have always had an ability to mock the mcarbre.
Yeah, I reckon around the time I was finishing school. Mid 80s? "Why do the Americans drink so much Coke and Pepsi?" "Because they can't get 7 Up" (can you actually get 7 Up anywhere any more??!)
There's a statue to the captain in a park in Lichfield, staffs, I used to see it often when I lived there. He isn't actually from Lichfield - he's from he was from Hanley, Stoke on Trent. The statue was sculpted by the widow of Scott of the Antarctic, who'd lost his life a couple of month before the Titanic went down in a strange connection of two tragedies. Captain Smith's statue and plinth in Hanley were paid for from public funds - so its not apparent he was as widely hated as people imagine - however, the reason his statue is in Lichfield is apparently due to the residents of Hanley wanting to disassociate themselves from him. I think the press did a number on him, he had orders after all. A strange web indeed.
Then there is the Titanic Brewery from Hanley too . They have a very nice bottled beer called White Star Golden ale . One of my favourite bottled beer . Think it says on the back label ...Shipped all the way from the Potteries .
