Tintop interior - a bit of market research if I may

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by GingersVW, Feb 29, 2012.

  1. If you were going to buy a tin top what would you like the interior to be like?

Would you want a sink and/or hob? Or just cupboards/storage?

    Full width or 3/4 bed?

  2. Hob / no sink
    Storage
    Full Width

  3. when i have done tintops in the past i make a cooker unit in the same style as the original devon swing out ones, allowing you to cook outside :)
bed / sink depends on who the interior is for and how much stuff they like to take camping i reckon but you cant beat a full width bed.

  4. Full width bed at the back, if it's a non walk through a full width bench seat behind the drivers seat facing the back with storage under. Table mount on the floor with a hide away table. No mod cons.

If a walk through, rear facing buddy seat behind the seat on the slider side with storage under, cupboard with cooker and fridge under on the other side. Table mount on the floor with a hide away table.
    :)

  5. My plans for my tin top change all the time.

I've got a 3/4 bed in already so that will be staying. I was going to have a run down one side with fridge, hob and sink in and then storage in the back a la a standard westy but I keep thinking it would be better to have a swing out unit for the hob/sink, (I've got one of those smev combined units). I can then just have storage units down the other side.

I did think of having the swing out unit big enough to cover the walkthrough for travelling but then I keep thinking I like the walkthrough to go and beat the kids if needed...

In other words, I'm not sure!

    Fridge?

  7. Something to consider for a swing out unit is the ability to use it inside as well. We suffer our fair share of inclement weather here so you need both as an option. I have a Westy continental in our tintop and it's great, but it doesn't leave much room for living. It has all we need though in terms of storage and comfort with fridge, sink, cooker and table.

  8. Has anybody seen or done a cooker swing out by the door? What I mean is not against the bulkhead.

I like the idea but don't want to loose the bench seat so was thinking about somehow rigging it next to the bed and swinging it out from there.

I have a tin top!! But no interior... tell a lie; I have an engine stand, rear bumper and rhs engine case, plus a bench seat with one bolt, all removable incase I a) want to cook inside the van b) get kicked out of the house by the misses and need somewhere to sleep!

My plan, however, is 3/4 R+R, permanent rear quarter unit by the sliding door. two storage seats like the prototype bay caravette with removable bases.

I think it'll be more of a day van so hob would be strored in a removable seat base, water would not be a permanent fixture in the van and I will buy a 12/240v fridge to seat between the buddy seats, which also wouldn't be permanently fixed.

I'm undecided in respect of a top locker cos the headlining is pretty good!

  10. Being a twin slider I'm limited by options

  11. Full Width bed,
    Hob.
    Fridge
    Sink.
    PROPEX
    Storage.
And a pop up tent on the roof accessible through the sunroof, so as you can stand up :)

  12. Full width rock'n'roll bed. Thats al I have.

  13.
  14. full rnr bed
    fridge
    cooker/hob
    storage
    tv/dvd

  16. We have almost finished our tin top

    3/4 bed
    Cooker and sink
    Fridge
    2 drawers
    3 cupboards

  17. my walkthrough tinny will have a full width bed, overhead locker with two buddy seats with underrneath storage - no sink or cooker, just a washing up bowl and a portable gas stove - flip up table.
