Sorted....:thumbsup:stainless socket heads with nylon washers and nylocks.....bit of a tickle with the angle grinder to tidy up the welds....may get it stove enamelled as the og paint is sh*te

  2. That should improve the storage!

  3. Serendipity....when folded the legs can rest on the uprights I'd installed previously....otherwise terry's tool clips screwed to the underside of the bed, or even a nice spring-ball plunger and corresponding hole let into the leg...if you're at all worried about them folding out ;)

  4. Ordered the new foam for my backrest as the old one wont fit as Ive made it bigger. Realised I needed to shave a bit off the front of the seat board as that was too far out in bed mode to allow the size of unit I wanted (need a minimum of 900mm.) Re-varnished and did a little mod to the backrest to reduce flexing ( as per westy beds) - glued and screwed plywood batten. (all this for a prototype I ask you!)

  5. That's the good thing about prototypes....you just get on with it.....and then keep it 'cos it's bob on:D

looks like the T & G panelling and drawers are coming along nicely;)

  6. Nice write up @Dicky . How are you finding the new hinges ? Do they operate OK and seem to be as strong as originals ? Mine have become a little loose and the catches are worn so I was thinking of swapping them out whilst I am updating the interior but I want to be confident the new hinges at least seem as though they are going to last before I splash out !

  7. From discusions ive had the hinges are similar if not the same quality as late westy hinges and are ok however they are by no means as good as early westy hinges. Im having a wee problem with the latching mech as if you lift the seat base up to get into the underbed locker it sometimes sticks and wont drop back again fully. the other and associated issue is that occasionally when lifting the seat up to put into the bed position it doesnt unlatch from the seat position. I think the problem is partly due to my cusions being a lot deeper than late bays but will update when ive sorted it.

  8. Thanks Dicky. The catch problems are similar to my own. Perhaps I'll have another look at my own first. Thanks for the feedback.

  9. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

My early westy hings do two clicks.
To turn into the bed I lift to hear just the first click then pull out the bed.
To turn into the seat I have to lift 2 clicks then it locks and rocks back to seat.
If your hinge clicks are out of sync for whatever reason you get 2 double clicks. If you lifted only to first of either pair of clicks, only one side locks where you need it to, it goes lop sided and is difficult to operate.
