thread for bottom slider bracket

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by guybay1, Jul 10, 2014.

  1. Hi all I've got a problem, 1 of the 2 threaded holes that the bottom sliding door bracket bolts to has no thread to take the bolt, any ideas how I can do this as obviously it needs both bolts on the bracket.

The only way is to go up a size. They're M6 at the mo.

When I say the only way, you could also cut a chunk out of your door, replace the plate that's stripped and weld it back on.

  4. Rivnut maybe?

It has to be adjustable, I think a rivnut would fill all the adjustment space. This is an engine hatch one, but it's essentially the same.

  6. I've got a similar problem and have to lift the door to close it. Something else on the list to be done.

  7. Helicoil insert ?
