hi all im new here so looking to get so thoughts on this mite have a bid what do you all think Item number: 160660077874
Hi, and welcome, I'd always be wary about bidding on any van without seeing it in flesh or metal as it were, shiney paint hides a multitude of sins, But at the very least i'd want to see clear pictures of the underside, and any photos of the work while it was being carried out. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160660077874?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp5197.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D160660077874%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1
There's not a lot of detail on those pictures. I'd struggle to bid on something I couldn't see a bit more of
hi i have bean an looked at it an its sound as it says in the add but i dont know what or how much to bid as the bloke selling it said he wants it to run to the end the pics hes got are all dated from when it had all the work
Great looking bus the description sounds great if it is what he says it is I wouldn't be surprised if it gets 8.5k . But buying blind or even going to see it without someone with experience is a fools game! If you have not seen it dont even consider bidding its a mistake you only make once. or twice :-[ :-[ :-[
i know what your saying but i had my mate with me whos a panel bater for vw an he says its bean done 100% spot on the under side ie chasis has had no work nor will it need any but i dont want to be paying over the top if you get what i mean
I've I'd done all that work, all that graft, the blood sweat and tears, I'd get under it with a camera to prove it!! So you've been to see it?
year went the day after it went on sale an spent the best part of 2 hours looking at in the day time to but like i say he would not take it off as he said a good camper will all ways hold its own witch i thought was good in away as he was not just going to take the money to get rid of it
In which case, put aside emotion, put the highest bid you can afford in and leave fate decide. These things are only worth what someone is wanting to pay - if you were asking me would I pay that for it - no, but then its not my thing (a camper to me has more than a rock and roll bed). Asking the guy who built it is it worth it looking as it does - then what's he going to say?! Its a nice looking van - how much can you afford, how much do you want it?
Did you have a drive? Guess you have to decide a maximum you are prepared to pay like all auctions. A few bidders involved so may still go up a bit from now. At the end of the day you sound like you've had a good look at it. Enough to get some idea if all that work has been done in reality.
looking at the images, there is quite a bit of history with the bus, which is a positive..it looks good from the piccies but dont be fooled by them, ebay ads can hide plenty of sins! If the work done is recent, then it should be a good bus for a long while. Please bear in mind though, these buses are ~35 years old & need some tlc!!
year i had a good run down the road an it went better than the the others i have bean in we will see whats going to happen tomoro night then i know what your saying about it being a camper with just a bed but what he said to me makes sence ie if your cooking an keeping cloths in the same place then thay tend to stink an it has the awning with it witch is where thay use to cook an from what he said its got the cooker an other camper things with it to make up a kitchen in the awning
it does look good...what does your gut instinct tell you, bearing in mind you are the one who has viewed it? has the chassis (outriggers, jacking points, sills etc been replaced and sealed etc).
its sound as good on the under side as it is on top an i got it up in the air all round an as i said its spot on but i know what ebays like as you bid then bid an bid again then befor you know it your paying god knows how much moor than you ment to think ill put a bid on later then not look at till its over
one of our buses is a 73 tintop...£4250 off ebay (supposedly fully restored) bought on a buy it now...we bought it home, started sorting bits and bobs out...turned into a 3+ year resto project..we are just starting to paint him now!! In the meantime we bought a 77 westy, he's running a treat and has never let us down yet!
if i was selling that van i would pay you commision for the extra coverage you have given it today , if you are really interested , ask him what he wants and pay it ,if its as good as you say then bingo - everyones a winner !. welcome to the forum dude , we love a good intro .
