Things I learnt today

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by yorkshirecampers, Oct 15, 2011.

  1. 1. When taking stuff out of the bus, take photos of what it looked like before so you have a vague idea of what goes where when it comes to putting it back together

    2. Put different screws in different piles and mark what screws came out of what bits to avoid mismatched/illfitting screw nightmare

    3. Remember the initial enthusiasm for tackling a job when you're half way through and can't be frigged to finish it

    ::)

  2. we did the first two when we took Wilma apart 10yrs ago, they didn't help ::)

this time we might video it, that prob won't help either ;)

good luck putting it all back!

I have learnt these lessons a number of times, then forgotten, the learnt again and so on.

I know when I start a job I should do all of that, but then I start and forget because i want to get it done so end up with the ensuing problems :(

I made a list of all the parts we had...the list is safe with set no 2 of the seals..somewhere...

  8. phew - that could have been a lot worse :p

  9. i like have spares left over, i bought a new clutch kit...lost it bought another on and found the first one the day after ::)

  10. I went on ebay after i had removed and bagged all the screws, nuts n bnolts and bought replacements in stainless steel.
Also bought 2 electronic ignitions after putting the first one in a safe place.

Ahh yes and still have front window chrome trims left over, (offers anybody) :-[ :-[

  11.
  12. i have a tendency to order something off the web, and then realise a day later i need something else and end up paying twice on the postage

  13. I decided to replace my window rubbers with OG ones, when it came to fitting i found mine were already OG. put them on ebay and lost £19. :-[

  14. Hey at least you still had them, i cut mine ogs out with a stanley knife, Doh doh

  15.
  16. I have to say that YorkshireCampers, my wife, is showing great initiative with this. We first met in London when I was a boss and she was a lowly sales wallah. Well over 10 years later we both work for the same company in Leeds, we are married (it was in the Times) and Zoe is my boss, she is a director, I am not sure what I am ;D

I am mechanically hopeless, I am a programmer, I make castles out olf thoughtstuff. Zoe gets things done, she makes things happen. She is up there with me on the mechaiocal side but I know if that becomes a problem she will learn how to do it.

Zoe, I am proud of you, go for it girl.

But that lighter blue is the best option, I do a lot of colour design... O0

  17. Aw, how lovely!

  18. PS. The most important lesson I learnt was when I tried to throw away the piece of metal with the VIN number on it. Luckily I was stopped! However, now I can't throw away the smallest piece of scrap metal without checking three times that it's not important!

  19. don't plan what your going to wear later in the day first thing in the morning! It was beautiful at 9:30 when we took the dog to the park; a warm and sunny autumnal morning, now it looks murky and grey
