Today this poor van was liberated from 14 years in the basement of a Bradford Mill. It was a bit tricky to get him out but we managed it without denting any of the lovely TVRs he was sharing a garage with! He doesn't have name yet but he's originally Dutch and his registration beings with ATL so I was thinking Amstel. However, any suggestions welcomed! Famous Dutch people perhaps? PS He's definitely a boy.
You say he is Dutch? I take it someone has converted him to RHD. Looking at the ATL all I could see was Arthur Lowe so he would be "Mainwairing" for me.
Great suggestions for names guy! A bloke came by the workshop a few months ago and mentioned that his son's van had been in the basement of a Bradford Mill for 14 years and were we interested in buying it? We said no but had he thought about restoring it to a certain level and then deciding whether to sell it on or keep it. So that's what we're doing - all the bodywork (which is fairly sound) and mechanicals but not the interior other than the basics (yes he's RHD). The engine was new 14 years ago and Steve got it to turn over yesterday so we don't foresee too many problems with it. Famous last words! Apparently it was used by the Dutch Army but don't know a lot about the history, sorry. We haven't had a proper look at him yet but if you're all interested in the resto, we'll keep you updated.
Now that is interesting because it's a crossover circa 1972 but it came into the UK in 1982, hence the X plate. It's none of our business as it's not our van and we're not going to be selling it for the client but we have asked to see the paperwork for interest and we will be checking it out.
surely it should have age related plates? my bay was built 1968 (us import) but now as F reg plates which was 68 over ere. :headscratch2:
