  1. Been doing a bit more when I get spare time. Rear suspension donuts underneath freshly powder coated caps. I did inners before the year off the resto but have no pictures. [IMG][IMG]
Went to fit the new tailgate catch and was immediately unhappy with the shape of the new one so I scraped off the over spray from its last 10 paint jobs cleaned up the old one, turned out well.

All fitted and tailgate tweaked, not a bad fit. [IMG]
    Few more bits powder coated.

Gear lever fitted and I can find all gears a lot easier than when I bought it. [IMG] tidied up the wiring in engine bay, number plate light wires were ruined and terminals fell off starter wire in my hand! [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

  2. I've been off here for a while but just been doing a binge catch up on all things tlb. Your van looks awesome and is coming along nicely. This will be my last season using my bus before tearing it down next year - hope it looks half as good as yours in the end. Keep it up:thumbsup:

  3. Been a busy bee this week, late night every night and feel like I've achieved plenty.

Dashboard back In [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG] it felt wrong taking a hole saw to a freshly powder coated dash but I did it anyway! I know the tweeters aren't pointing in the perfect direction or are within the correct distance from the main speaker etc but better than nothing. [IMG][IMG] cavity oiled every orifice I could find! I had my probe in every hole imaginable! The rear corner that had big repairs during my resto got absolutely soaked from the inside of the roof, totally overdid it but a nice feeling to see it seeping out the next day.[IMG][IMG][IMG] mounted the propex under the bed too, more big holes in my nice bodywork.

This little lot went in next. [IMG][IMG][IMG] engine back from being fully reconditioned, shiny new twin webers fitted and ready to go back in. [IMG]
Here it is back In with the rear bumper back on top.[IMG]

  5. what carb kit did you go for mate, and what twas the cost?

  6. The local engine builder got them for me, twin webers came as a kit with everything you need for 395. Feels quite zippy to drive so pleased with them

  7. any idea where from as that seems like a good price :)

  8. Not sure but he's been building vw engines for about 25 years so will no doubt get a discount wherever he buys from, I'll pop in and ask him next week when the world returns back to normal!

  9. Nice progress bud, where did you get your engine refurbished?

  10. A bloke called Daz Chandler, he had a company called called air cooled performance for years and years, recently relocated near me and merged with another company which does hotrods and transmissions in Billingham, it's called KC's hot rod and speed shop, they're very good.

  12. Is that the fella that used to be based in Northallerton?

  13. Ah right, never heard him mentioned before, I'll keep an ear out if he's needed in the future, thought our van had packed up on the a19 on Friday, lost power and a Big Bang, think it was only a miss fire actually, so been trying to sort that out over this weekend.

  14. That's who I was thinking it was, was he doing a beetle for his daughter.

  15. Yeah I think he was In Brompton
