The tight Squeeze in my Garage

  1. Ok this Winter i really wanted the Bus in the Garage and i knew it would fit with a bit of manouvering.

Basically because of the Devon roof the skylight on top prevented me from reversing the bus straight in, i had to take the garage door off to be able to get under the height issue, potentially lossing a bit of air out of the tires might have helped but i ddint fancy ruining my tires or alloys.

Getting the door off was easy enough just two circlips and removal of two stopper bolts and the door just came off the back of the runner, with no vehicle in that was fine. getting the door back on was a different story as the bus is no impeading the angles used to remove the door, Three people later and it went on ok, but its there to stay until the new season starts.

    See pictures.

worth noting i have a chest of drawers down the back of the garage and i have a shelvign unit down the left hand side as we look at it.

  3. Ok maybe i should have named it "how awkward is it to get your bus in the garage" thread, as yours is clearly a tighter squeeze LOL. trying to work out what the picture is with your finger pointing?

  4.
  5. i have a nice double garage and i can get my bus and my insignia in together. its a squeeze but my top tip is to clear the drivers side of the garage completely and get the bus in as tight to that wall as possible then get in and out through the sliding door

  6. Now mines a tight fit up top

  7. ... I wish I had a garage.

  8. i also wish i had a garage , sick of taking cover on and off

  9. I wish I head a bigger garage

  10. I wish I had a longer garage - then I could fit my towbar.

  11. I managed to get my van in the garage at the place I'm storing it, but couldn't keep it in as I couldn't fit my motorbike in as well!

  12. I feel your pain mate, I too have a Devon and a standard single garage.

I'd promised the mrs that the bus would go in the garage so the driveway was free for the kids to play on. With that in mind I've gone pretty low on the suspension front (4 inch narrowed t2d beam, dropped spindles, adjustable spring plates, tubbed front, chassis notches front and rear)...but still I had my worries.

It went in but the inner barrel of the lock scraped down the lovely new Devon cap so off the lock came, it now has several padlocks instead. I have about 3mm clearance heightwise and I basically have to hit the rear wall to be able to close the up and over...not a pleasant thing to do when you've got some nice original chrome overriders!

Some pics to put it in context...

  13. I suppose i should count my self lucky that my garage is long, and even luckier that it has eves so i can store things in and a decent width, if only i had a different door.
