Been drilling holes and final bits of welding today before prep starts next week. One thing i wanted to do was trial fit the early badge, as much as i tried and looked at it i couldn't live with the bump on the new panel so i chopped it out!!!!!!! i cut a disc slightly larger than the hole placed it in from behind and then tacked a bit of 6mm rod to it, this gave me something to pull it into place as i welded it in very carefully and lots of quenching! a skim of filler and it looks much better and the badge will fit nicely.
great job on removing the front badge raised bit. I did it on mine and dispite quenching (and electrocuting my self a few times due to wet gloves) I got a lot more distortion that you did that really is a top job mate
A mate of mine is painting the van, its interesting to see how much work go's into the prep! he's very patient and its looking good so far, if it looks nice now it should look great in shiny paint!!!
Day 4 !!!! still cleaning , filling sanding, cleaning, filling sanding!!! fortunately Tracy Stanleys owner had bare metalled most of the van so thats helped a great deal, so today cleaned up the roof and etch primed it, primed one side and block sanded it , getting there slow but sure!
Got the inside all cleaned up today, took 2 of us all day to prep and we are just giving it a coat of etch primer now at 19.45pm, i can see why resprays cost so much now!
we will do but last of all with normal primer as its not bare steel, then seam seal everything then top coats
