The lake district - Ullswater - side farm

  1. Great campsite on the banks of Ullswater with spectacular views.Whilst the site gets really packed and is on a 1st come 1st serve basis in the summer months I found I was the only visitor they had in early October last year ,the weather was unusually superd although cold at night as no electric hook up on site (although I was near a laundry/toilet bloc that had 3 pay washing machines with duel points and one night a small motor home came and hooked up to them!) plus I didnt have thermos screens at the time.
The sites really slopey as well so bring chocks.
It was £7 plus £2 per vehicle.
Amazing walking and the drive via Windermere on the Kirstone pass is unforgettable.
    Hope to go back soon.

  2. Wow that looks beautiful. We usually stay in Pooley Bridge but will try there next time we're up.

  3. Its opposite Pooley Bridge ,its so peaceful you can hear the safety anouncements from the steamers before they set off ,the final thing they say is 'the bar is now open' :)

  11. We just got back from an overnight stay here. Beautiful location and the kids enjoyed playing on the rope swings and paddling in the lake, it was pretty reasonable cost wise too, we payed £18 for the four of us. It was the least level campsite I've ever been to though ( I have been to a lot as well), the spot in the pics above are the best bit - it was covered in tents when we went. I slept really well despite the slope we were obliged to park on but it might be an issue for some. Another (possible) issue is spiders, the toilet/shower block has a lovely open ceiling to the underside of the tiles - which are covered in cobwebs and spiders. I don't mind them myself but my wife was not at all happy about showering with a lot of spiders suspended above her!
