Standard size front tyres for me.. My bus speedo is actually as accurate as my mk4 Golf speedo according to sat nav...3mph out at 60. Its a good point though, when I was going through my slammed stage, with low profiles on the front, I was barely pulling 50 when the speedo was showing 60 Are we going to have a seperate leader board for non VW engines?
1600TP now without air leak and with timing a little more advanced. 0-55 in 39.5 seconds with some camping gear and a weeks food shopping rolling round in the back. 0-60 in 51 seconds though, just no go at all past 55!!
There are too many variants of engine, mods and other factors that will end up needing sub leader boards so I say just this one will do. Besides its just a bit of fun....
***THE LEADER BOARD*** 1. @zedders 2413cc 14.00 seconds 2. @Flakey quicker because half his bus is missing 15.7 seconds 3. @Dicky 16.50 seconds 4. @rickyrooo1 (the "late" Bollyknockers) 23.01 seconds 5. @Merlin Cat 2.0ltr with racing stripes and deep shag carpets 26.55 seconds 6. @Kkkaty type 4 with camping gear onboard 38.00 seconds 7. @orangefeeling with camping gear and shopping board as well as rolling round in the back whilst driving 39.5 seconds 8. @earlybaybob 1600 with a curry on board 46.25 seconds 9. @Barry Haynes before changing cap, leads, plugs, coil, fuel pimp & gimp and filter & adjusting tappets and carbs 49.00 seconds 10. @Pony One year and two weeks, three days 32852924 seconds (according to google)
I don't see the point fella, @zedders and @holmsen have vw engines just special ones bigger than our jap ones. I'm gonna have a try tomorrow I live near a bypass but it's always busy, had a window of opportunity yesterday but my stopwatch/phone was sat in the ashtray and promptly fell on the floor as I booted it
I had similar fun.... I have downloaded a stopwatch app with big Start / Stop buttons, and will glue my phone to the dash somehow
Good plan, I've just downloaded a big button/display one on mine. Roll of gaffer tape on next attempt.
EJ20 in a tiptop. I'm starting to wonder how accurate that was though, I don't really consider my bus to particularly quick! Will have another go in the morning...
It's a 3 rib Vw box. I have geared it up the poor man's way, with 195/80 AT tyres on 15 inch T4 wheels on the rear.
Just had another go in my tea break, bit slower this time at a bit over 10 secs.. must have been the extra weight of the ginsters pasty lol Think I will go back to pootling about now, poor ole gearbox wasn't keen
That's jolly fast! Come on Doug, you know you want to, you're the Subaru with poptop and furniture, it might slow you down a bit and make the rest of us feel better!
50mph on my speedo is about 38 mph due to elastic band tyres on the wheels I fitted.... I shall have to pop an app on to try this, do I get a handicap for being 21 Clem in weight?
***THE LEADER BOARD*** 1. @Dubs EJ20 in a tiptop but drastically handicapped by the extra weight of a Ginsters Pasty 10.02 seconds 2. @zedders 2413cc 14.00 seconds 3. @Flakey quicker because half his bus is missing 15.7 seconds 4. @Dicky 16.50 seconds 5. @rickyrooo1 (the "late" Bollyknockers) 23.01 seconds 6. @Merlin Cat 2.0ltr with racing stripes and deep shag carpets 26.55 seconds 7. @Kkkaty type 4 with camping gear onboard 38.00 seconds 8. @orangefeeling with camping gear and shopping board as well as rolling round in the back whilst driving 39.5 seconds 9. @earlybaybob 1600 with a curry on board 46.25 seconds 10. @Barry Haynes before changing cap, leads, plugs, coil, fuel pimp & gimp and filter & adjusting tappets and carbs 49.00 seconds 11. @Pony One year and two weeks, three days 32852924 seconds (according to google)
Who will be first to post a sub 10 second result? @Barry Haynes ? Will the changing cap, leads, plugs, coil, fuel pump and filter & adjusting tappets and carbs do the trick? @Dubs if you lay off the Ginsters Pasties next time!?!
