i don't think it's engine out on type 4 - if so then i aint doing it i think it's a fair bit of tin off and maybe injection manifolds? dunno really - wing it on the day yes i have all parts for complete resto of cooling system

 

If you are just doing the flaps then it might be possible to do it wi thout taking the fan housing off but you would need to take your Cylinder shrouds off ie top tins. Never done this but I cant think why it wouldnt be possible. Might go in there by just taking all the tinware screws out - might give you enough room! If not then manifolds would need to be loosened. Its one of those jobs that could be easy but fiddley or a right pain but nowt in between.

The job itself is a PIA. You dont get much movement on the shroud without loosening the oil filler. Will be interesting. Hopefully will be there!

We've drawn the line at welding in the past - kids, dogs, arc-eye, power...
There's usually plenty of spannering to be done and you can get a fair bit of spannering done in a weekend if you focus.
People have done top-end rebuilds in the past (2 in one TE).
Brake rebuilds.
New Carbs
Pop-top canvas's
But the main thrust is to break the ice between newbies and their vans, engine service, brake inspection and adjustment, fit elec ignition, check out/fix the heating - that sort of thing.

 

No problem my freind,it will stay at home lol.

 

Eddy can usually dig out a mig welder in an emergency.

 

A bit warmer would be nice too.
