Well the odd thing is is that the longer one, 211827401, is up to 1971 model year only:thinking:.

What's different between yours and Chips? I haven't compared side to side pics yet. Too busy typing lol

Ok the overall length of mine is 220mm

Repro rubbish I presume, it never had one when I got the bus

    AHH, mystery solved.
So you need the A suffix for 1974.
I've been scratching my head using 2 phones to compare the pics lol.
The only real difference was that Chips stay is flipped round so you don't catch your arm or head on the ends of the springy bit.

Genuine are still available I think...

So you need the 255mm one then? And fit the right way round so it doesn't skin you when you take the battery out - check out Bus Monkey's

  13. With the original stay, my Dec ‘76 built one opens to this height 6C9EDCE9-F4C3-4919-BC52-861035BC573D.jpeg

  15. With the repro one it made a good coffee mug holder, but to actually do an in the engine bay, I’m glad I found and refitted the original

It opens so far I think you've got an early one.

  17. Wouldn’t surprise me, definitely seems a bit of a bit a bitza van, until I changed them, the cab doors had different hinges, one early and one late, but looked original as they were both blue on the inside (Neptune blue from the factory) but Marino yellow and white outside (Devon conversion paint).

Correct or not, it’s the one we got in 1991 when Dad bought the van.
