Tailgate is too far to the right ?? No adjustment that way is there? Bending ?

  1. My new tailgate is too far to the right. I put thick washers between the right hinge and tailgate hoping it would move it left a tad. It didn't.

Surely it doesn't rely on the striker plate to do it, does it ?

Any ideas ? Pictures are with washers (though they didn't make any difference.

I helped my mate take his off last week and can't remember there being any adjustment.
Has it got the rubber seal on? That may push it over if not.
If it has, can you just bend each top hinge over to the left a few mil?

  3. That was my thought, my concern is the hinges themselves seem like they will be stronger than the actual mountings at the top. I'm concerned they may break

You won't break the hinges or the mounts, remove the tailgate and eye up the positions of the hinges in the closed position, you may only need to adjust one but you need to bend them at the point the hinge kicks. Or just open up the tailgate and push it hard in the direction you want it to move. The striker will help a little too

Heritage I would expect, they are the same as door ones, early ones are smaller

  8. Cheers David. I can't see them, my doors ones have the rubber held in with tags on them not screws. They are the only ones I can see on heritage.

I bought a lower half of a door off you a year or so back I think. It was a green half of a lhd one.

Now used at long last to make this

    Many Thanks

  9. I'd try and sort the problem rather than rely on the striker to centre the hatch because you'll end up knocking the rubber block off the striker if it's too far out of line.
