See first pic. I think how you have yours it will sag between the fixings and look terrible.

  2. Nice diagram, that fold-over is critical in the Bay versions, that was what I meant by a bit of a mind game.

  3. I see, that makes sense, thanks. I replicated what was on there before which apparently is not correct.

Now it's all together I think I'll try it and if as you say it doesn't look right, can take it off again and re-do it. The worst part would be getting the staples out.

    That's a useful diagram. Cheers.

Yep, ours was fitted incorrectly by not folding over on the tack strip and it's always boiled my owl!
The solution was for the fitter to take up the slack in the canvas at the metal strip on the tin van roof. It looks lovely...not.
I've never bothered to sort it out because there would be holes in the canvas now where he launched the screws through it.
It's a Gowesty Outdura synthetic one. Out of stock in grey. Were supposed to be getting them in last August...global supply issues

  5. I see you found my post, mine was a front hinged canvas and was to short. This was bad enough but the company didn't want to know.

How are you securing the canvas and the tack strip ?

  7. Well it’s on, no problem with the canvas sagging and it’s pretty taught, so overall pleased.

But I have to say, that has to be the most frustrating job ever and I don’t think I’d do it again. Whoever came up with that system for attaching to the roof is a psycho..

The canvas was a pretty good fit, at the rear I had about 2 inches too much so ended up with a few wrinkles but otherwise good.

thanks for the advice however, it all worked out.

  8. Good work! The 0range looks good.

Mine has the odd wrinkle at the back too, much the same as your photo. I was advised the wrinkles will go over time as the canvas shrinks a bit when it's been rained on and then dried out with the sun on it a few times :)

    Time will tell.

  9. Final one on this job, all finished and rear roof section now on. I think I might need to trim the rear roof seal back a little, but otherwise it’s done.

I appreciate the useful comments, very helpful. Thanks.

  10. I did this 2 years ago as well and then had to work it out but did the same . I ended up putting a very small hole in mine with one of the screws as i got to the narrow end and the screwdriver slipped as i was doing the new bottom fixing to the roof. Ended up bying a flexible screwdriver for the ones at the very end. But outcome was very similar to you. I am just missing the frilly strip at the top which I never got around to finding. Nice Job as I know how hard this is to get looking as you have

  11. Many thanks, it was tricky but happy with the results. Looks better in reality with less wrinkles than the pictures appear to show.
