  2. Cheers guys for all the advice ;)

Got some bits done over the last week or so, not a lot on the body but should do soon.

Modified the washer valve, well I say modified I mean removed and fitted a switch ready for an electric washer pump and its cost me less than a fiver upto now (although I do need a pump).

I've also stripped and resprayed the steering column in satin black (sorry no pictures yet), I was going to do it body colour, but seeing as though I haven't decided on colour yet I couldn't.

Until next time, should be more next time as I have a few days off.

Satin black's best for all those mechanical bits in the cab. :)

  4. I've done the same with the washer switch and pump idea I got a pump of eBay for about 12 pounds as it sits up right and can be bolted by the washer bottle

  5. Baybug have you got the sellers name or a picture, and I'll try and find one, as I've heard you can have problems with priming on a lot of pumps. I was thinking of picking one up from the scrappers.

  6. Worth a look in your local halfords for the washer pump, I think from memory they are about a tenner, cant find them on their website as they want you to put in the car model number, but i'm sure ive seen a generic on in my local branch.

You may need a non-return valve after the pump if the water takes an age to come out. :)

  8. Type this number into eBay 380430347599 this is the same as mine I've hooked it up in a bench sand it seems to work well .

  9. Got the washer pump ordered, looks good.

I've also taken delivery of a deformation panel, its a genuine VW Brazil one from Heritage so will need modifying to take an original bumper (still need to find one of those).

Had a bit of time to myself today so had a go at fitting the defo panel, was amazed at how well it fitted, I got it all drilled for welding, but me being inpatient had to have a go at welding it on.

Some pictures below for comment, does it look right before I weld anymore cos this body work lark is a real learning curve. I just think I'm getting the hang of it then it all goes to rat Sh*t, but practice makes perfect.

Also whilst I'm on the bottom of the front panel has a down turned lip, I've not noticed this on other vans should it be cut off or folded under or left as is.

Sorry for waffling, here the pics from to days work.

  10. Hi all

Sorry its been such a long time with no update, really short of cash at the moment, but have managed to get bits done.
No pictures as yet of what has been achieved lately but hopfully will get some up over the weekend.

    What have I done:

    1) Deformation panel all welded on (had to borrow a welder to do this mine wasn't up to it)
    2) Front panel all filled sanded and sanded and filled and sanded, now primed.
    3) steering column cleaned and painted
    4) steering box all cleaned (not sure wether to paint or not)
    5) Danbury roof purchased, needs a bit of work but should be fine.

Then today I had a go at the front of the rear arch as there was a big lump of filler that needed to come out, only thing is now I've cut the outer skin off it's worse than I expected, the middle sill is a bit rotten but only towards the rear, the inner sill appears to be still solid as does all the metal work adjacent to the sliding door area, so I'm not really sure how to tackle this and would love some advice/guidance. Some picture's may help explain:-

  12. Hi all,

Long time coming but finally got a bit more to share.

Holes in the L/H cab floor repaired.

Could only find this one at the mo of the floor repair, but believe me it is repaired.

Also I've repaired the front arch/step area, rather than replace as after all this is a budget build. It will need replacing one day but just not today :-

This is it with the rot cut out,
    [IMG]

and then all welded up and ground back, bit of a scim of filler and it will be fine.

Thanks for looking and I'll try not to leave it as long next time.

Getting bits and pieces done all the time but keep forgetting to take pics.

  13. Just found this picyure of how the front looks now, got to the point with the sanding where I'm happy, not everyone would be but she's never going to be a show Bus. As long as I can drive her I'll be happy.

Found a bumper on Ebay for not a lot of money, deformation panel drilled for the missing two holes and rivnuts/clenchnuts fitted.

The bumper had a few holes in it from ??? anybodies guess, anyway all welded up and cleaned needs paint now.

  14. Keep at it dude all these little bits soon add up

  17. Hi Chris

the switch, wiring and conectors where all from Maplins, cost less than a fiver. You have to open the hole up to take the switch but thats no biggy. Should work well......when I ge everything put back together.
