Stupid question perhaps, but.....

  1. Help.... I'm the bookkeeper of our marriage and Hubby and I have our first van to "do Up" . I'm keen to create a thread on all the changes... We're not keeping her original interior so I feel its a lie to say we are "restoring" her (mechanically, yes - functionally/interior-wise we've decided to ditch/sell on her original interior and go for our own safer for the kids modern designs....) Is this a conversion or restoration since we are not going down the stock route..... It's all quality home and hand made stuff.... With skill of course, albeit novice, but I know there's a difference between stock and modern ;) ???

Should I be posting here or in camper restorations? ??

  2. Buggered if I know but good luck and have fun

Show us your bus is a good place. Or here??
Restoration is more grinding, welding and nuts and bolts.

  6. Funny you mentioned this.
It's not a stupid question at all. I have actually been thinking about this for a couple days now.
You are quite right to say that you are not "restoring" your bus. You're not restoring it at all. I would say you're doing a "custom rebuild".
    Or something.
I wanted to suggest that the Restoration forum be subdivided into three separate categories, Restoration, Custom, and Finished.
Not to be a corrective git. It's just that sometimes I want to look at original restorations and sometimes I want to see custom work. Other times I want to find a good project thread that actually shows the finished product, rather than 63 weeks of polishing clutch cables and sandblasting knooten valves, only to find they are still three years from slapping a coat of paint on the damn thing. My God, it's like watching paint dry, and you usually never know which way a "restoration" thread is gonna go until you're about 23 pages in.
