FOR SALE Steering wheel 17mm

And no that isn't the overall diameter it's the spline size.

I believe this is suitable for a late bay 74 on, certainly doesn't fit my early which is what I bought it for .

The wheel is in good condition a few small scuffs and marks on it (difficult to photo) and one small crack (pictured) but on the whole a fine example. Looking for £40 + postage REDUCED to £30 collected from stanford hall . There is no cancelling ring or plastic horn push but the metal work for the horn push is all there. Part number 211-415-655B/G

My current steering wheel has a part number of 211415651D, I don't suppose anyone knows if this wheel would fit? If so i would be interested.

 

... just to also say, I'm currently away from home hence can't go and measure my spline. Though somehow actually had a photo on my phone showing my current wheel's part number! So not being too lazy to check myself!

Following your lead, I had a look around and found the following (and a couple of other pages) that suggest that your wheel is a 21mm and so suitable for early late bays.

However that doesn't make sense as it obviously doesn't fit yours. Maybe the B/G suffix makes a difference

 

Well it's definitely 17mm, I get the suffix makes a difference. It's smaller than an early wheel as I found out after removing the old one and hitting myself in the face with it (note to others, leave the nut on a couple of threads )

Hope you didn't think I was trying to say you were wrong, I believed you that it was 17mm, just was confused by the part number! Thanks for sharing the pic of the measurements tho!

However I've have now just seen a later padded wheel on here, which has thrown me as I'm now trying to decide if I want to stay true to my '74 era, or go for the later padded version, as now I know I have a 17mm it looks like that might be an option. Sorry mate, I'm really not trying to mess you about, am still interested, but don't hold it for me if someone else shows interest... will be my fault for being indecisive if I lose it! Hope you understand.

 

No worries mate, I didn't take it the wrong way but wanted to make sure you knew what you may be buying! Let me know if you want it, although I may chuck it on ebay in the next week or so as the wife keeps moaning that it's in the living room. I think it's nicer to look at than a lot of her "ornaments" but apparently she doesn't agree........

Just to let you know that I decided to go for a later padded wheel instead. Thanks for your help though, and good luck with the sale, sorry for changing my mind. It's a great wheel so hopefully you'll have no problem selling.
