Stay twin or back to standard.

  1. Picked up my new bus yesterday and looking around the engine bay it has lots of shiny bit and bobs. At the moment it has twin weber carbs, flamethrower this and that, deep sump and an electric fuel pump. Thinking about reliability and function i've noticed the exhaust does not connect to the heat exchangers. Easy fix, fit a standard exhaust and connect it all up. Besides that what would be more reliable and require less maintenance? Standard setup or current setup? I suppose I could keep the deep sump (better oil cooling?) Also where the old manifold has been removed there are now holes in the tinware, should I blank these off? What would you guys do. I haven't even got it started yet so I cant see if the performance is any better than standard but thats tonight job!

I'd stick with the twin carbs. Going back to single is a step in the wrong direction imho.
I'd blank off any non-standard holes as best you can but in the grand scheme of things I cant really see it making much difference.
Its bound to feel sprightly compared to your bus as presumably it weighs a good couple of hundred kgs less. The only way to see if it performs better than stock is to compare it to another crew cab.
