Starting from scratch, Helsinki on my mind

  1. Hi everyone
I haven’t introduced myself here in the late bay, been hanging around the earlybay forum for a few months, some hick up with getting approved here…but now it’s done.
Bought a 76 panel van in october, my first project. It has been sitting for 20 years prior to me getting it. Very close to rust free except for lower side of the front window, one beam and a few spots here and there.
I spent the winter and spring with sanding all the rust, welding, changing every rubber seal etc. Painted it myself with 2K and it came out ok for being me

the engine was a goner, and I found a restored 1600 in amazing condition, restored by a very fine man here in Sweden , and it runs very nicely now.
Changed all the brakes, lines and so much more. I have plans on putting up a thread with that journey soon.
Now it’s time to build the interior, and I have been thinking about something like Helsinki. any pros/cons?

would love to see your pictures , especially on those things you never see in pics online. Inside cupboards, under sofa etc.
I have a furniture building friend who will build the whole thing from scratch, so now is the time to decide and make wishes

I’m thinking about having the cooker on the space closest to the sliding door, and to be able to slide that whole unit out of the bus if needed, building it on rails.

have a nice Sunday everyone, and if you know of a fitting roof rack in my part of town, just holler!

    Micke
