On the way back from former we stopped off at Holt for a look around and a coffee as we had holidayed there when Diana died. Whilst looking around the antiques emporium I came across a set of six 5001's which in my mind are one of the best wood chisels you can buy but sadly not made since the eighties. All in a homemade box and only £30 so took them to front desk and asked what was he's best price "£27 for cash" deal done and now I need to sharpen them four France.
Stanley tools used to be the best, not as good today or course same as everyone - China is king! Well done for spotting them. I still use my dads old chisels which are at least 50 years old now and better than any modern rubbish! Good memory of my dad too so I always smile when I use them
Agree with you guys , when my father died a while back my mother said I was to get rid of his tools (lots) ,so I went thru" the boxes , like hell get rid of them ! like you said Stan , I too get a feeling/sense of pleasure that I am still using his stuff to do work, good tools are timeless !(imo) and some of his "home grown tools ive come across,? brill !
