  1. Ok managed to get away to Llandudno for a quiet weekend but after coming off the motorway it won't tick over in 1st or 2nd , thought it might be because its hot but still doing this morning 2L twin carbs flat 4 , should I meddle?
Or get a flatbed back , seemed to run fine on the way down though did get a wiff or 2 of oil.
Rang mechanic but think he might be away?

  2. I'd do a quick check , wires ,hoses , servo bends etc ,oil

What do you mean by "it won't tick over in first or second"? Do you mean you put it in gear and it stops?

  5. If you don't give it gas the engine cuts out so when your coming to lights and you take your foot off the pedal both red lights come on and I lose the breaks as well.

  6. makes me think of servo pipe adrift....air leak

  7. I'm with Fritt servo pipe as 1st culprit
is it as you brake? if so deffo servo pipe or one way valve, Start it up and put your foot on the brake it'll stall if there is a leak

  8. Not really its as soon as you take your foot off the pedal , it's fine at speed in 3rd and 4th.

  9. As Zed said, Does it tick over in neutral?

Servo pipe elbow fallen off inlet manifold or wire fallen off carb.
You can mend this and be on your way for once?

  11. No wont tick over in neutral

  12. I'd check the cut-off valve screwed into the carb(s). If this packs up, it'll shut the engine off at idle. Check the electrical connection - it should clonk with the ignition on. Quick fix is to cut the end of the plunger off.

  13. Yep red wire hanging out that leads to right hand carb , it goes to the distributer but the connectors missing :(

  14. Hmm. Shouldn't go to the distributor. Does it go to the coil? PS Don't let it short on the engine block...

  18. Yes Snotty , the dizzy had shaken itself out of the holder and the right hand carb wire had come out , there was a spare connection point on the dizzy so put it there but the engine wouldn't start , took me ages to release it should on the same one as the left hand one :)
Took me ages to realise the dizzy had come away , thought it looked silly sat lose next to the fan belt :)

  19. Congrats you're fixed. Nothing wrong with a quick look "under the hook" every now and then. LOL Guess the coil will need a lesson on staying but. LOL Finish up a great weekend.
