    measure volts on battery (12.6v-ish)
    start engine
measure volts on battery - should be another volt with engine running.

so i need a volt meter wired in

  8. You can measure the leisure battery voltage with a multimeter. When the engines not running it should be around 12.5v, if healthy.

Also measure the voltage on the main battery. If it's slightly different then you know that the two batteries are isolated from each other.

When the engines running both batteries should go up by a couple of volts. If only the main battery voltage goes up when the engines running, then the split relay isn't working.

    No, multimeter like sydney says.

  10. Like zed said. Just measure the voltage supplied to both batteries directly. No need to wire in a meter. :)
